Working with denim means matching creativity with nonstop research and ground-breaking experimentation to meet every customer’s needs: this challenge, in some cases, can turn out being really fascinating.
An outstanding collaboration we did lately was with the legendary O’Neill brand, founded in 1952 by Jack O’Neill to beat Mother Nature at her own game. Since Jack created the world's first neoprene wetsuit, we had clear in mind that working with this pioneering label would have meant to create a functional and absolutely innovative product.
Uniting the deep knowledge of denim and the progressive spirit devoted to action sports, in this occasion ISKO and O’Neill joined forces to create the first ever denim boardshort. Was that easy? Jan Lindeboom, O’Neill product expert, said that it wasn’t at all: but ISKO and O’Neill could actually put together their unique features to make it happen. A boardshort must be at the same time ideal for surfing and super comfortable: ISKO Blue Skin could make it super stretchy and lightweight, and the O’Neill Hyperdry treatment could make it water repellent.
The result of the collaboration is a unique design that brings street style to the ocean. Made with fast-drying, lightweight, 4-way stretch and ISKO Blue Skinfabric, the boardshort delivers unrestricted mobility and durability, maintaining its shape no matter how hard it has been ridden.
The short’s denim is also 50% lighter than traditional fabric and is really water repellent (watch the video here), thanks to the O’Neill Hyperdry technology. Consistent with our commitment, the fabric is environmentally sustainable and remains soft and breathable, both in and out of water.
